Kapalaiwenaʻula
The palapalai is kinolau to Laka, deity of hula. Gathering ferns for our lei, we seek out the outstanding. Only the perfect ones are chosen. We are rewarded when we come across palapalai with red tips as they are extraordinary! They are kapalaiwenaʻula!
Waikahalulu
The Reverend Lowell Smith was the founder of Kaumakapili Church. It was originally located at Smith and Beretania Streets, founded in 1839. Smith Street was named after Reverend Smith. The church was rebuilt in 1888 at the corner of King and Pālama Streets. This map design celebrates the location of our store, Sig on Smith, ili of Waikahalulu, Honolulu.
